Supporting Victoria’s COVID-19 Crisis Response

Students can now join the COVID-19 vaccination workforce

To support the record surge in demand from Victorians to get vaccinated and to continue to expand the program, the Victorian Government is bolstering its COVID-19 vaccination workforce.

The Victorian Department of Health has partnered with Torrens Health to help recruit vaccination providers.
We are looking for the following staff to support the COVID-19 vaccination program, notably appropriately qualified and endorsed medical, paramedicine and nursing students*.
*Students eligible to prepare and/or administer the COVID-19 vaccine:

  • Medical students who have successfully completed all units of study from the third year of a Bachelor’s program, or the first year of study of a post-graduate/Master’s program
  • Nursing and midwifery students who have successfully completed all units of study from the second year of a Bachelor’s program, or the first year of study of a two-year Master’s program. Year three RUSON/Ms are authorised to vaccinate
  • Paramedicine students who have successfully completed all units of study from the second year of a Bachelor’s program
  • Pharmacy students in fourth year and pharmacy interns

All other students can join the COVID-19 Vaccination team in support roles.

Long-term placements (of 3-6 months) are available.

You must have a current Police Check and Working With Children Check.

COVID 19 Immunisation Staff

Expression of interest to join the COVID Immunisation Workforce

YNA Torrens Health are looking on behalf of DHHS for COVID Vaccinators for both Metro and Regional Victoria.
Staff who can vaccinate include Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Nurse Immunisers, EEN’s, Pharmacist Immunisers, Paramedics and Doctors.

  • Long term placements are available.
  • Staff interested in deployment to regional areas will be offered accommodation packages.
  • Must have current Police Check and WWCC.

Outbreak Response Workforce

Torrens Health is the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services partner for managing health professionals registered with the Working for Victoria Health Portal. The COVID-19 Urgent Response Workforce has seen over 2,000 staff placed throughout Victoria to meet the needs of healthcare and community facilities impacted by the pandemic.

To ensure COVID-19 vaccines continue to be delivered to the highest standards of safety, you will need to ensure you have met the free training requirements:

  • COVID-19 vaccination training program – all vaccination staff
  • Victorian COVID-19 AstraZeneca Supplementary eLearning – all vaccination staff
  • Victorian COVID-19 eLearning Competency – all vaccination staff except medical practitioners, nurse immunisers and pharmacist immunisers

You will also receive on-site training and may be supervised by an experienced immuniser.
